A two-month voyage through Australia is being halted in the wake of the death of an elderly woman who was stranded by the cruise liner on a distant coastal location.

The elderly woman had been hiking on Lizard Island with fellow passengers from the vessel, but broke off from the group for a rest. The ship sailed away leaving her and came back several hours later after the crew realised the lady was unaccounted for.

An extensive search operation located her body the following day.

Investigative bodies are looking into the incident, in coordination with investigators and the official investigator.

Head of the cruise operator announced that guests and personnel on the Coral Adventurer were informed that the rest of the cruise had been cancelled due to the "tragic passing and earlier technical problems".

Via official communication, he added that guests would be issued a full refund, and said the organization was working "to arrange the travel back of the passengers via chartered flights".

Officials also published an latest announcement, and said they had "issued a directive to the Captain" preventing any further travelers from getting on the liner.

The official said that they would inspect the vessel in the Australian city upon its arrival.
